Self catering accommodation in St Neot sleeps 4.
Accommodation overview: Sheltering in a wooded valley on the fringes of Bodmin Moor, this is an ideal location from which to explore the best of Cornwall’s countryside and coastline with the North and South coast just a 30 minute drive. This traditional 200 year old terraced cottage is close to the 15th century parish church, in the heart of the pretty village of St Neot, a former winner of Britain’s Best Village.
Slades Cottage provides warm and cosy accommodation benefiting from central heating and double glazing yet retains its considerable charm and character. One step leads up to the low front doorway which opens directly into a deceptively spacious sitting room with a high beamed ceiling and rugs on the original slate flagstones. Comfortable lounge seating is arranged before the decorative Cornish stone fireplace with the original cloam oven and an electric coal effect fire that provides an attractive focal point. At the rear, two steps lead up to a small inner lobby with an adjacent cloakroom W.C. with hand basin and a recently upgraded fitted kitchen/dining room with a slate tiled floor and traditional fireplace.
A fully glazed door opens from the kitchen to a little sheltered courtyard with a small bistro table and chairs catching the morning sun. In one corner of the lounge, cottage stairs wind up to the first floor landing where there are two pleasantly furnished bedrooms with deep set windows. The master bedroom has a double and single bed and sloping wooden floorboards and the second smaller bedroom has twin 2ft 6in beds. A modern bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath completes the accommodation. Parking on the road close to the cottage is unrestricted.
St Neot has a local shop, pub and social club open to non-members within a two minute walk and there are several village pubs within a short drive, the nearest being 4 miles. For a wider selection of amenities the towns of Bodmin and Liskeard are a 15 minute drive. There are an abundance of footpaths nearby both on the moor and along the scenic River Fowey and fishing is available at Colliford and Siblyback Lakes, 4.5 miles respectively, the latter also has water sports facilities. Carnglaze Caverns, Lanhydrock House and the Eden Project are all within easy reach and the unique shopping experience at Trago Mills is a 5 minute drive. Self catering accommodation in Lamorna sleeps 4.
Accommodation overview: Located within the picturesque wooded Lamorna Valley and just a mile from the tiny harbour at Lamorna Cove, this recently extended, traditional semi detached granite cottage is set in a beautiful and relaxing mature country garden. Built in 1890 and thoughtfully renovated to retain a great deal of character including antique furniture and deeply recessed sash windows, this is an ideal location with easy access to both the Minack Theatre and St Michael's Mount.
Approached from a parking bay with ample space for two cars, a gated path and one step leads up to a sheltered sun terrace with garden table and chairs and from here, patio doors open directly into a pleasantly fitted kitchen/dining room. A rustic dining suite in the centre of the room has views over the informal garden and in one corner, three steps lead up to a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and electric shower over the bath and a utility room with laundry facilities and access to a small service yard.

A wooden staircase leads up to the first floor landing. On one side is a twin bedded room with tranquil views from dual aspect windows, and on the opposite side, three steps lead down to the master bedroom with a 5ft double and an adjacent shower room W.C. with hand basin.
The garden which extends around two sides of the property has a raised terrace which catches the sun all day and a couple of rustic steps that lead down to the grassy garden and a fire-pit for summer evenings. Although enclosed and an ideal place for older children to explore, toddlers will require supervision as there are some unguarded drops. The owner’s artist studio is adjacent to the cottage and is accessed via the same pathway.
A bridleway at the rear of the property leads to the local pub, The Wink, 1 mile away, and continues down to Lamorna Cove where there is The Cove Hotel for restaurant dining, a small sandy beach at low tide adjacent to the harbour and a seasonal café. St Buryan, 3 miles, has a church, village store, P.O., pub and garage and for a wider selection of amenities, the seaside town of Penzance is less than 5 miles away.
There are stunning cliff walks along this dramatic coastline both east and west, particularly the ten mile stretch from Lamorna to Lands End with numerous ancient sites to explore. It is also an excellent base for exploring the west of Cornwall by car and an easy drive to Penzance, Mousehole, Porthcurno and Marazion all within a 15 minute drive and only a little further to Sennen Cove and St Ives.
