Accommodation overview: This 200-year-old adjoining house, once a hostelry and reputedly the oldest building in Porth, sits on a quiet lane just 30 feet from the golden sandy family beach. Visitors can enjoy a barbecue on the sand just yards from the front door as the sun sets out to sea, or a stroll along the headland and onto Porth Island. Glan-y-Mor has many original features and has been refurbished to an exacting standard by the current owner. Porth, a small hamlet on the edge of Newquay has a local family-friendly pub right on the sand serving home cooked food and local ales, a ten pin bowling alley, a café, a beach shop and a bistro. The hamlet of Porth, once a thriving harbour village, provides the ideal location to enjoy this stunning coastline including Watergate Bay, home to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant, which can be reached within 20 minutes by a lovely walk along the breathtaking coastal path along the cliff tops. A little further along the coast road leads to Mawgan Porth and further to Padstow after a meandering drive along on of Cornwall’s most beautiful coastal drives. Lusty Glaze beach, a golden arc of sand with its alfresco restaurant and outdoor activity centre provides surfing, abseiling and a zip wire and is just a short walk from the house along the coast path. Newquay with its vibrant culture can also be visited on foot and boasts excellent shopping, a zoo, a leisure centre, surf schools, sea fishing trips and seven sandy beaches that stretch from the famous surf beach of Fistral in the west to Whipsaderry beach in the east. Porth also provides the ideal touring location without compromising on location. The Eden Project, many NT houses and gardens, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Ives, Port Isaac and the subtropical south coast are all accessible. Shop 500 yards and pub 400 yards.
