Accommodation overview: West Lynch, thatched and cosy, has been with the same family for three centuries and lies on the sunny side of the Porlock Valley. Inside, relaxation and comfort abound - it is beautifully furnished with lots of arts and crafts, many sitting areas, 50in and 32in TVs and with facilities such as Wii, games room and indoor pool table. Outside catering is available by an inspired professional chef by arrangement for that special occasion or treat. National Trust woodlands from the former Acland Estates are just beyond the house. These lead to the open moors - with large herds of red deer, Exmoor ponies, the buzzards on the wing and foxes in thir lairs - and dramatic headland of Hurlstone, looking west down to Devon and north to the Welsh coast. Also within walking distance are the romantic villages of Bossington, Selworthy, Allerford and bustling Porlock for year-round needs, as well as Minehead’s farmers’ market. There is surfing at Lynmouth or beyond to Croyde and Woolacombe, and golf at Minehead or the fine course at Saunton for a true test. Horse riding is available for all abilities and entertainment for both children and adults at Lynch Farm and Tropicaria further on. There are also glorious walks, of course, to hidden treasures such as Culbone Church, Butlins at Minehead or Dunster Castle if activities such as outdoor meals, table tennis, croquet and messing about with balls at West Lynch does not suffice. Local beaches are a short drive away, but Bossington beach is within walking distance, with its amazing pebble ridge. Enjoy a stay in this special corner of Exmoor. Clustered around a cobbled courtyard they enjoy shared use of an outdoor heated swimming pool with its own walled area and poolside furniture and an acre of magnificent sub tropical gardens and 3-acre paddock offering views over the West Somerset Steam Railway and across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast. Accommodation overview: Yeo Farm is a small country estate nestling in the picturesque hamlet of Waterrow on the Somerset/Devon border at the foot of the Brendon Hills. Walkers and dog owners are welcome at these adult only farm cottages. Comprising some 40 acres of woodland, pasture, ponds and the River Tone, the farm also has fishing rights for over half a mile, and a riverside walk has been made to enjoy the natural flora and fauna present in this area. The 16th-century farmhouse has been restored and is the home of the resident owners, whilst the cottages (Refs ERE, ERF, and ERG) have been sympathetically converted from former farm buildings and comprise three adjoining character cottages, which enjoy wonderful views over the estate. The cottages have been renovated and refurbished to a high standard, and offer all modern conveniences and comfort in this stunning setting.
Yeo Farm provides an excellent base for countryside pursuits and walking, with the Brendons, Quantocks and Blackdown Hills nearby and Exmoor on the doorstep. Horses are welcome. Many historic houses and gardens in the vicinity. Coast 13 miles. There is coarse, fly and sea fishing available; golf 4 miles; hard tennis courts and outdoor swimming pool 1½ miles; clay and game shooting by arrangement.
