Accommodation overview: Vines and Rendells is set in a small hamlet, nestling in the beautiful Devonshire countryside and within walking distance of the sandy beach at Speke’s Mill Mouth, a popular venue for local surfers, boasting its own waterfall and set at the foot of an impressive cliff. Hartland is a mere 2 miles from the holiday property, with a post office, general store and several pubs serving an extensive range of meals from traditional pub food to the impressive cuisine of the Hart Inn. An attractive Mediterranean-style courtyard, bedecked with wisteria, jasmine, roses and a fig tree, provides a sunny and secluded entrance to the farmhouse with its ‘church door’ entrance. The securely sealed well still provides the farmhouse with fresh spring water filtered through a state-of-the-art purification system. Vines and Rendells is a substantial 17th-century, Grade II listed farmhouse set in 25 acres of countryside with its own pond (fishing available, bring own rods) and small stream running through the boundary woodland. There are spectacular views of Lundy Island and the Atlantic Ocean. Equipped with splendid natural teak dining furniture and large parasol, this is an ideal spot for al fresco dining and a glass of wine as the sun sets through Speke’s Valley.
