Accommodation overview: Pennti is a very unique and unusual property, lovingly built by local owners. They have used wood from the nearby Tregothnan estate to create items for the holiday cottage. Pennti truly is a unique cottage, converted from a farm piggery and providing a tranquil base from which to explore the surrounding beautiful countryside. It is hard to believe that despite being in the heart of rural Cornwall, Pennti is a mere five miles from the bustling county city of Truro. Built with the scenery in mind, every room has views towards open countryside. From the private parking space and enclosed front patio garden, entrance to the cottage is through a conservatory which has seating to enjoy the vista. The remaining ground floor has an open plan living/dining/kitchen area, which allows a feeling of space and light throughout. This room has a log burner on a raised hearth ensuring a cosy welcome at all times. The owners have imaginatively used wood from the local Tregothnan estate to enhance practical everyday items. The handmade steep wooden staircase to the mezzanine sleeping platform (suitable only for children over 14 years of age) is one such example. Taken from one huge oak tree and sliced down the middle, its natural shape wraps around the stairs. This mezzanine level has two single mattresses on the floor, and restricted head height. The bright and cosy conservatory thoughtfully has binoculars provided, to help view the wildlife and birds that populate the hedgerows and local woodlands. From this room there is a door through to the double bedroom, which offers uninterrupted scenery from floor to ceiling windows. A peaceful retreat with many walks from the door, Pennti offers an ideal place to rest and relax. Accommodation: Ground floor: Conservatory. Access is gained through an ancient Lych gate opposite the 11th Century Church which is part of the hamlet of Colan. Fabulous countryside beckons from the doorstep with country lanes, woods and the fantastic Cornish coastline is only 3 miles away. If you enjoy surfing then visit Newquay and one of its 7 award winning golden beaches. Within a few miles radius you could visit the National Trust's Trerice House, go Mediterranean or Tropical at the world famous Eden Project, or even cycle the Camel trail from Wadebridge to Padstow. If you love good food then you will be just as happy visiting any of these areas to sample world renowned cuisine. From the shared walled garden and private screened patio area, enter through double French doors and find this well-appointed Cornish cottage. The characterful lounge has a lovely garden outlook and with its own fireplace will keep you cosy on cooler evenings. A smart fully fitted kitchen with original slate flagstone floor has integrated appliances and room for four to comfortably dine. From the cosy lounge stairs lead to the first floor where there are two delightful and sunny bedrooms. One room is a Double bedroom whilst the other is a Twin room. Sited next to open farmland, in an area known for its natural beauty, you are sure to enjoy peace and tranquillity amidst comfortable surroundings. Both cottages have access to a fantastic indoor leisure facility, adjacent to the Owners farmhouse. This includes a full length heated swimming pool, authentic sauna and large hot tub. With an outdoor adventure play area for children too, there really is no need to venture further afield, as no matter what the weather is like, there is entertainment for all ages on site. However for those wishing to venture further, there are many famous towns and villages to visit close by, as well as gorgeous beaches within a few miles, at Crackington Haven and Bude.
Entrance to Wheatley Barn is through the bright and airy conservatory with views to the front garden and patio area. This room has a sofa-futon which gives a very flexible sleeping arrangement. The accommodation is reverse level to make the most of the surrounding countryside views. Access from the central hallway is to both bedrooms. These rooms are newly re-furbished and offer a King with en-suite bath and a Twin with en-suite shower, which is also ideal for two couples holidaying together. A central staircase leads up to the vaulted open plan living/dining/kitchen areas. There are windows on all sides affording uninterrupted views to the garden, neighbouring farmland and distant moors. Comfortable seating around the fireplace with wood-burner, ensures a cosy welcome all year round. The dining area with picture windows overlooking the farmyard, means all meal times will pass happily, as you watch the daily routines unfold. The farmhouse style kitchen is well equipped with a central island for the hob and cooker and further integrated appliances. Everyday comfort is further ensured throughout the cottage, with oil fired central heating. Outside there is a lovely enclosed garden with some tiered levels and access to the enclosed children’s play area.
