Accommodation overview: With views of Bude Canal and glimpses of the sea and beach about 500 yards away, Wharfinger combines period charm and modern comforts with spacious accommodation and a secluded garden and is an excellent base from which to enjoy the facilities of Bude. 

An open driveway with parking for one large or two small cars leads to the entrance porch with space for beach clothes or coats leading into a welcoming inner hall. The ground floor provides two sitting rooms: the one at the front has a gas fire set in a marble hearth for cosy spring or autumn evenings and a bay window looking across the canal with oblique views of the beach; the sitting room to the rear has patio doors leading on to a small terrace and steps up to the garden as well as a double sofa bed for extra sleeping accommodation by prior arrangement.

Beyond the sitting rooms is a large, well fitted galley kitchen with an archway through to a light and spacious conservatory/breakfast room with table and seating for ten. The ground floor is completed by a shower room WC with power shower and wash basin. 

Carpeted stairs lead up from the hall to the first floor bedrooms. The stairs divide at the top and to the right are two twin bedrooms; to the front looking over the canal and to the rear overlooking the garden and parish church with French doors to a small railed balcony. To the left of the stairs the front bedroom has a 5ft double bed and an attractive bay window facing the canal; the rear bedroom has twin beds, a vanity basin and views over the garden.

From the landing there are three steps down to a spacious upstairs bathroom WC with shower over the bath and wash basin. 
The rear garden can be reached by several quite steep steps from a terrace accessed from both the breakfast room and rear sitting room.

The garden
has a paved area suitable for outside dining, and a pleasant expanse of lawn with an attractive central tree. For returning customers, the garden layout has been altered to accommodate a new detached cottage at the top of the garden.

Set to one side of a country lane, the property is entered from the parking area where half a dozen steps lead down to a covered porch and the front door which opens into an entrance hall with an adjacent cloakroom W.C. with hand basin. 

The ground floor accommodation, furnished to a high standard with a slate tiled floor throughout, comprises a well equipped fitted kitchen and adjoining dining area with two sets of French doors opening to the garden and lovely views towards the sea. There are two warm and inviting sitting rooms with sumptuous lounge seating, one has a multi fuel stove set in the hearth and the other has rural views across the rear garden. 

Upstairs there is a family bathroom W.C. with vanity basin and shower over the bath and three delightful bedrooms; two twin bedded rooms with built in wardrobes and the master bedroom with a 5ft double, beams rising up to the apex of the roof, and an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin. The latter also enjoys far reaching views over the fields to the sea and beyond from French Windows that open inwards with a Juliet balcony

The garden extends around two sides of the property with a sheltered sun terrace, two areas of lawn and a lower paved patio all enjoying views of the surrounding farmland and coast; pets must be kept under control as the neighbouring fields may contain livestock.  There is parking for 3 cars on the driveway and storage space is available for golf clubs and beachgear in an outbuilding. 

With direct access to a public footpath running along the boundary of the property that meanders down the valley to Halgabron and St Nectan’s Glen and links with the coastal footpath, this is an ideal base for walkers and nature lovers.  Tintagel,1 mile, has a good selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants in addition to the famous ruins of a mediaeval castle and Merlins sea cave, and the attractive NT harbour at Boscastle is 3.5 miles. 

The nearest beach is Bossiney Cove which has fine sand at low tide accessed via a fairly steep incline and the sandy surfing beach at Trebarwith Strand is less than a ten minute drive.

Approached from the gated gravel driveway, a path leads to the front door which opens to a delightful, warm and cosy sitting room full of old world charm and with a vaulted ceiling at one end.  Sympathetically furnished, the barn has great character with exposed beams and stonework, some slate floors and comfortable lounge seating set before a wood burning stove.  An inner hallway and one step leads up to a wet room with shower, W.C and hand basin, and at the end of the hall is a fully fitted galley kitchen with a Belfast sink. 

To one side, a doorway opens to a lovely double glazed conservatory which has a rustic dining table and bench seat and a door leading out to a covered sun deck with patio furniture.  The secluded rear garden has a gravel terrace and five steps leading down to a hedged and gated lawned garden with lovely views of the surrounding countryside.  A hand carved spiral staircase leads up to the long galleried bedroom with a double Victorian brass bed set under the eaves and an additional sitting/reading area. A garage houses the freezer and shared laundry facilities and there is also space available for the storage of bikes and beach gear.

The quiet village of St Neot is 3 miles away where there is a shop, traditional pub and church. The Colliford Tavern on the shores of Colliford Lake is a 10 minute drive.  Polventon Barn is conveniently located for the beautiful beaches and cliff paths on both the North and South coast which can be reached in just over half an hour by car as well as the Eden Project.  Locally there are excellent walks, fishing, golf and pony trekking available, and cycle trails through Cardinham Woods close by. The old county town of Bodmin with a selection of shops, pubs and a leisure centre is about a 20 minute drive as is Lanhydrock House and Gardens. Water sports are available at Siblyback Lake nearby.

Accommodation overview: Just over 500 yards from the stunning South West Coast path giving access to the popular beaches at Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth nearby, this beautifully presented attached cottage in an extension to the 200 year old main house and is a perfect location to explore the North Cornish Coast with its well known restaurants and fishing harbours.

Fronted by a shared brick paved drive with parking for one car directly outside the cottage,  a gated side path leads round to the enclosed courtyard garden at the rear. Double glazed French doors with a step up opens into a bright and well finished living room comprising the whole of the ground floor with solid wood flooring. There is a modern well fitted galley kitchen, L shaped corner sofa in front of the wall mounted electric fire and a glass topped dining table and chairs in front of the window.

In one corner a carpeted staircase leads up to the landing on the first floor with two bright and comfortable bedrooms; a kingsize with digital TV and a single bedroom at the rear. To complete the accommodation is a fully tiled shower room with W.C, hand basin and double sized shower cubicle.
  
Crab Cottage has an enclosed rear courtyard garden with a garden shed perfect for storage of beach gear and bikes. A timber gate leads to an unmade lane from which you can access the South West Coast Path and walk to the pub in the hamlet less than 5 minutes away with a farm shop and bistro only a 2 minute drive.

Mawgan Porth only a 5 minute drive has a pub, café, surf hire and local store and for wider shopping facilities the resort of Newquay is 5 miles with access to the beaches at Fistral, Pentire and Crantock. Jamie Olivers Fifteen is only 1 mile away at Watergate Bay and Rick Steins café and restaurant is 9 miles at the famous harbour of Padstow where you can also cycle the camel trail to Wadebridge. The South West Coast path located a short walk from the cottage gives access to Mawgan Porth and Bedruthan Steps to the north and Watergate Bay and Newquay Bay to the south. The Elizabethian houses of Trerice and Prideaux Place are 6 and 9 miles respectively and the The Eden project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock house are all less than an hour by car.

The accommodation consists of a warm and cosy sitting room of great character with a beamed ceiling and exposed stonework on one wall, and a door to one side opens to a ground floor bedroom with twin beds. At the rear of the property in an extension to the original cottage, one step leads up to a compact kitchen / diner with maple effect fitted units, a pine dining suite and a quarry tiled floor, and at the far end, one step leads down to a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath.

A rather narrow pine open-tread staircase leads up from the sitting room to two further bedrooms with peaceful views over the village cricket field to countryside beyond, with a single and king size double bed respectively, all with electric blankets. A door from the kitchen leads out to the secluded rear garden, with a gravel patio area and a couple of steps up to an enclosed level lawn with mature flower beds and a side gate leading to the front drive.  

The elderly may find it easier to access the property via the rear where there are just 2 steps. The village of Constantine, about one mile away, has a church, small shops and a pub and Falmouth, with a wider selection of amenities, several beaches and the National Maritime Museum is five miles away.

Approached from the parking area where there is space for two cars, one in a lockable garage, a pedestrian gate and a dozen open sided steps lead down through the landscaped garden to the entrance at the rear.  A half glazed door opens to a modern fully fitted kitchen with a quarry tiled floor, smart dining suite, additional breakfast bar and patio doors to the front courtyard providing a short cut to the beach. 

At the rear, an inner hallway gives access to the warm and cosy sitting room with a high painted beam ceiling and sumptuous lounge seating facing the brick fireplace with open fire. 

Carpeted stairs lead up from the hall to the first floor landing where there is a fully tiled bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and two delightful bedrooms in a fresh crisp décor.  The master bedroom has a 5ft king-size bed, dual aspect windows and a couple of easy chairs in one corner for reading, relaxing and watching television, and the second bedroom has twin beds

To the rear of the property is a fully enclosed terraced garden with a sheltered paved patio and raised gravel terrace with garden furniture.  The South West Coast Path and the large sandy beach offering easy access and safe bathing at Porth are just 300 yards down the hill with a pub and seasonal shop just a little further. 

Newquay’s local shops, pubs and restaurants are a 10 minute walk and the resort centre with a wider selection of amenities including a zoo, Sea Life Aquarium and cinema is about a 20 minute walk away or one mile by car.  There are several other beaches in the Newquay area within easy reach including Watergate Bay (home to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Restaurant), Lusty Glaze, Tolcarne and Fistral, to name but a few. 

Golf, horse riding and ten pin bowling are all available nearby as is coarse fishing at Porth Reservoir and there is a local bus service operating to Newquay, Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth and Padstow.

A very pleasant beamed living room has dining table and chairs arranged at one end of the room and comfortable seating next to the large picture window to fully appreciate the views of the sea and coastline and a French door which opens onto the front patio.

Leading off the hallway there are a bathroom with vanity basin, an adjacent cloakroom W.C. and three good sized, light and airy bedrooms. There is a twin bedded room and a master double bedroom at the front of the property with fine views to St Ives Bay from very large windows, the latter with a vanity unit, and a further twin bedroom with wash basin looks out over the well maintained rear garden. A garage houses the freezer and tumble dryer and there is also space available for the storage of beachgear. At the rear of the bungalow, a gently sloping path leads up to a raised terrace with patio furniture and a beautiful garden with a large lawn, apple tree and flower borders.

There are a few local shops, a pub and a supermarket within a ten minute walk and the town of St Ives has a wide variety of craft shops, galleries, restaurants, pubs and cafes. There are also boat trips from the harbour, the Tate Gallery situated on Porthmeor beach, a leisure centre with swimming pool and delightful coastal walks. An 18-hole golf course is available within the magnificent estate of Tregenna Castle nearby.

The remainder of the ground floor accommodation comprises of a fully fitted kitchen with an electric range cooker and small breakfast bar, a useful rear lobby giving access to a decked patio, ideal for watching the sunset over Gull rock, and a cloakroom W.C. with hand basin.

From the hallway, carpeted stairs lead up to the first floor and the spacious master bedroom with a 6ft double bed, large en-suite bathroom W.C. with hand basins, walk-in shower and claw foot bath with hand shower attachment and a balcony with a glass balustrade enjoying a bird's eye view of the glorious sea and coastline.

Nestling in a cliff top position, the extensive garden which surrounds the property has sloping lawns and a large decked sun terrace with hot tub; a wonderful place to admire the views over the rugged coastline however young children and pets should not be left unsupervised. From the garden, there is direct access onto the South West Coast Path and also a fairly steep cliff path which provides a short cut to the lane leading down to the tidal beach and rock pools of Trebarwith Strand.

A seasonal cafe, surf shop and the Port William Inn, are all just a 2 minute walk downhill or a quarter of a mile by road and the traditional 18th century Mill House Inn is half a mile away. Tintagel, 2 miles, has a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants in addition to the famous ruins of Tintagel castle and Merlins sea cave, and there are also local amenities at Boscastle and Camelford, 5 miles respectively.

A winding pine staircase leads up to a landing, three bedrooms and a bathroom W.C. with vanity basin and a shower over the bath. There are two single bedrooms and one with a double bed, all with rural and distant sea views from roof windows. The cottage is surrounded by a series of sheltered stone walled and fenced gardens and pathways, including a covered pond, uneven surfaces and slight changes in levels so toddlers will require supervision.

The surfing beach at Sennen Cove is 3 miles, and the village of St Just about 2 miles away has a selection of shops and pubs. Light aircraft offer pleasure flights along the coast and to the Isles of Scilly from St Just airstrip.

To one side the garden continues to the front paved patio and small lawn enclosed by trellis fencing. There is a gated drive to the side with parking for 1 car.

Hallworthy 2 miles has a country pub and Marshgate 2.5 miles with its P.O store is the nearest village for your day to day needs. Wainhouse Corner 5 miles has a pub, garage and P.O store. The nearest beach is 7 miles away at Crackington Haven with the resort of Bude with its shops, restaurants, tennis courts and watersports is within a 30 minute drive. Trelash is on the Cornish Way cycle network and the south west coast path at Boscastle gives access to some dramatic coastal walks with Bodmin Moor providing many rugged scenic walks nearby. The historic houses & gardens at Pencarrow, Prideaux & Lanhydrock are all within a 40 minute drive. The coastal towns of Boscastle and Tintagel are 7 & 10 miles respectively and the picturesque harbour village of Port Isaac famous for Doc Martin is within a 30 minute drive.

Carpeted stairs lead up from the sitting room to a landing, a bathroom with hand basin and shower over the bath, a separate W.C. and three attractive bedrooms. At the front is a large bedroom with zip linked beds giving the option of two singles or a 6ft double with windows overlooking the beach and far out to sea, a view shared with a light and airy single bedded room. Facing the rear, a kingsize double bedroom in a restful decor completes the accommodation.

To one side of the cottage, a couple of steps lead up to a secluded sun terrace which has a slight drop down to the path and there is also a useful former boathouse available for storage of bicycles and beachgear. It is possible to unload outside the property but parking is in the village car park less than 5 minutes walk away. The sand and shingle beach with rock pools is ideal for safe bathing and all forms of water activity and a summer ferry service departs from the beach and operates to Plymouth landing at the Barbican but it is not advised that guests rely on public transport for this property.

Cawsand itself has a pub and hotel and a lovely walk along the seas edge leads to the delightful twin village of Kingsand which has a P.O. and a few local shops. There are splendid walks along the coastal path to Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and out to Rame Head which is a haven for birdwatchers. Coarse fishing and golf are also available locally.
