The owners bought the property in 2010 and spent a year renovating and modernising it and landscaping the garden. This traditional stone built cottage was fully refurbished in 2006 with very good quality furnishings and every modern appliance to ensure guests comfort. A feature of the cottage is the roof top sunroom the balcony from which there are spectacular panoramic views. The cottage also benefits from a good-sized garden, a pub within 200 yards and 5 minutes walk to Ullswater. There are many lovely walks around Ullswater, including the spectacular Aira Force Waterfall, or the less energetic could take a cruise on the Ullswater steamers and fish on the lake.

Accommodation overview: Broughton-in-Furness is well situated a few miles west of nearby Coniston, is becoming a favoured destination for the more discerning visitor, who appreciate its tranquil charm and acknowledge it as part of the Undiscovered Lakeland. Coniston and the wonderful surrounding fell ranges and lakes can be explored along with the nearby River Duddon immortalised by Wordsworth as one of the most scenic rivers in England.Embraced by this beautiful countryside, Broughton is becoming increasingly popular being well located, not far from the busier towns of Ambleside and Windermere; there are some excellent beeches nearby to the west, and to the south Ulverston is a vibrant larger town. Broughtons focal point is the Georgian market square with its obelisk erected in 1810 to commemorate the jubilee of King George III. Nearby old stone slabs can still be seen where traders laid out their wares, as can the stocks in which wrongdoers were punished. Bordering the square the Tourist Information Office is adjacent to Beswicks a charming restaurant, close to some of the cafes and excellent traditional pub where a welcoming atmosphere, fine foods and Real Ales can be enjoyed. Delicious and traditional foods are available from the small friendly local shops, the bakers and the butchers have deservedly been recommended by several of the countrys top chefs.

Horseriding and fly fishing are both available locally. There is a swimming pool on a nearby farm which maybe hired privately. There is a pub within walking distance serving bar meals and a restaurant in a neighbouring village. A footpath runs past the property providing walking from the door. The owner of the property now has a Micro Brewery and can supply his guests with Bottles or 36 pints Kegs of Real Ale on request.

Accommodation overview: Underbarrow is a delightful village in the Lyth Valley, with Crook and Crosthwaite nearby, and is a superb location from which to explore the delights of the Lake District National Park. A short, scenic drive will bring you to both Windermere and Bowness and the medieval market town of Kendal can be reached in just as many minutes. The area offers some excellent walking and cycling opportunities for all ages and abilities and there are plenty of country pubs in which to quench your thirst. The recently refurbished local inn, The Punchbowl, offers great bar meals.
