Accommodation overview: Garth Cottage Apartment forms part of Oakfield house in Underskiddaw in an idyllic situation which commands majestic and panoramic views towards the Helvellyn Range, the jaws of Borrowdale and Derwentwater. Oakfield House was built in 1850 as a country mansion for a local family and in 1883 the building was enlarged to become a superior country residence. In 1943 the mansion became a hotel and has now been modernised and the main building has been separated into four spacious and elegant apartments and the outbuildings into character cottages.
