Accommodation overview: This former Cumbrian farmhouse enjoys a spectacular remote location, high up on Bampton Common among the Lake Districts eastern fells and close to Ullswater and Haweswater. Carhullan was completely modernised in 2008 by the owners, who retained the character of the property and complemented it with furnishings and equipment of the highest quality. The location of Carhullan, two miles from the village of Bampton and eight miles from Penrith is a perfect peaceful retreat, yet only 15 minutes from the M6. It is accessed along a no through road where it is situated at the very end, approximately two miles. There are walks from the doorstep, over High Street to Ullswater and across Bampton Common to Haweswater. Bampton has a village tea room with shop and the Mardale Inn serves good food and real ale.

There is a wealth of exposed timber beams, solid wood doors and original stonework, which gives the cottage great character. Swallows Barn is situated at Seat Farm, Howtown 400 yards from the northern shore of Ullswater, beneath Barton Fell and High Street. You can catch the Ullswater Steamer nearby, with various drop off points around the lake. For that special occasion you can dine at the renowned Sharrow Bay Hotel, which is only 5 minutes walk. The Ullswater Yacht Club is directly opposite, weekly membership can be purchased if you wish to bring a boat, please contact direct- , it also has a private bar. Pooley Bridge is 2 miles and has cafes, shops and pubs.

Accommodation overview: This 18th century cottage was newly refurbished in 2008 and further improved in 2010, yet retains its original charm and character, with beamed ceilings and feature stone walls. Windy Nook is situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Pooley Bridge, on the north eastern edge of Ullswater, one of the Lake Districts most attractive lakes, at the point where the River Eamont and Ullswater meet. The 16th century bridge over the Eamont gives the village its name and offers beautiful views of the lake and the neighbouring fells. The village and the surrounding area are also of historical interest. Dunmallard Hill, adjacent to the village was the site of an Iron Age Fort and is one of a number of ancient sites dotted around the locality. The village has three good quality pubs which serve food together with tea rooms and a small number of shops providing essentials from groceries and out door equipment to souvenirs. The Ullswater steamers also depart from here providing trips along the seven mile lake to Howtown and Glenridding.
