Accommodation overview: Regular visitors to Borrowdale will be familiar with the former Yew Tree Inn at Seatoller, which the owners of Honister Slate Mine have converted into the ultimate in luxurious self catering, Built in the 17th century Honisters Cottage just oozes character, it retains its traditional features, including slate floors, open fire, a wealth of beams (some of which are very low) and original timber partitions, but with the benefit of a modern kitchen and bathrooms and beautiful furnishings. It is situated at the foot of Honister Pass and next to the Yew Tree tea room (seasonal opening) and has the benefit of a large rear garden leading down to a fast flowing ghyll. Accommodation overview: Located 1,700 feet above sea level, Foulard Cottage is probably the highest cottage in our portfolio. Situated at Nenthead in the North Pennine Hills, 4 miles from Alston, this 17th century detached cottage is full of original features including, beams and open fire. The village has a pub, restaurant, shop and visitor centre at Nenthead mines. Alston is the highest market town in England, with steep cobbled streets and an interesting variety of shops and galleries. This is a panoramic landscape of fells, moors, ravines, valleys, mountains,rivers and waterfalls ( the highest waterfall in England is High Force approximately 10 miles away). Crisscrossed with bridleways, ancient tracks, Englands highest footpath, the Pennine Way and the C2C cycle route, the area is ideal for walking, cycling, pot holing and pony trekking.

Accommodation overview: Sunnyhill is an 18th century detached cottage in the delightful village of Brigsteer and has all the ingredients for a super holiday within the National Park. Extensive views can be enjoyed from most rooms, (even from the kitchen sink!) out over the Lyth Valley and the Langdales in the distance. There are a large number of traditional country inns serving excellent ales and bar meals only a short drive away. Improved in recent times without any loss of character, Sunnyhill is a lovely home with feature beams throughout and a super wood burning stove to welcome you at the end of the day. Careful thought has been given to provide furnishings and linens to continue the cottage theme throughout and to accommodate the original features of this old house; the floors gently sloping in places and some areas where you should bend or bump.

Accommodation overview: A most charming character cottage situated in the village of High Lorton and fully refurbished in 2011. It may sound like a large furry mountain animal, but Yan Yak is actually Cumbrian dialect for One Oak. It has and interesting history, originally part of the very first Jennings Brewery and dates back to the turn of the 19th Century. in 1875 the brewery relocated to Cockermouth and continues brewing real ale to this day - daily tours of the brewery are available. Buttermere, Loweswater and Crummock are nearby, a peaceful corner of the English Lakes with unspoilt scenery. The village has a popular pub/restaurant plus a good hotel/restaurant and Cockermouth is 3 miles away with many amenities.

This Grade 1* listed building is regarded as one of the most important literary buildings in the UK frequented by the likes of Wordsworth, Lord Byron, Keats, Shelley, Sir Walter Scott and many others. Greta Hall benefits from a Central yet quiet location in Keswick with immediate pedestrian access to the town centre, Skiddaw, Latrigg, Derwentwater and the Borrowdale valley. Situated in 3 acres of lawn and woodland garden which has shared use with the owners family with river frontage and wonderful views from the grounds, Greta Hall is a truly unique place to stay. The Coleridge Wing is from where Coleridge drew his inspiration, and saying I question if there be room in England which commands a view of Mountains, Lakes and Woods superior to that in which I am now writing. The Coleridge Wing has much character with many pieces of hand made furniture individually designed by the owner.

Accommodation overview: Fell Croft is situated in the village of Pooley Bridge, on the shores of Ullswater, with easy access from the M6 Motorway and just 5 miles from the market town of Penrith. The property is ideally situated, at the end of a cul-de-sac, just out of the hustle and bustle of the village. It is an easy walk to the centre of the village with its pubs, restaurants and shops and onwards to the shores of the lake. Ullswater, is the second largest lake at 7.5 miles long, the lake offers a variety of water-based activities from canoeing; sailing and windsurfing to a leisure cruise on one of the famous steamers. Many walks start in the Ullswater Valley from the trek up to Helvellyn to low level strolls along the shoreline. There are many places to visit nearby including Dalemain Historic house and gardens, Rheged, Aira Force and The Alpaca Centre to name just a few! Accommodation overview: Hidden Cottage, a traditional mid terrace built in the 18th century, is situated close to Coniston Water and village and is within walking distance of two excellent Lakeland Inns. The Farmers Arms, just across the road from the cottage, has been trading since the 16th century and serves excellent bar meals and local ales. Hidden Cottage is beautifully presented and very comfortable and has all the essential ingredients you would expect of a quality holiday cottage; open beams, a log burning stove and a delightful elevated garden which has fine, open views across nearby farmland. The summer house is the perfect spot to sit and take in the evening sunshine or even to enjoy on wetter days. Hidden Cottage is a super property and once found, we hope never forgotten.

It is the perfect base from which to explore the Central and Northern Lakes, with excellent walking and cycling from the door and many other outdoor activities are within easy reach.
