Alston is the highest market town in England, with steep cobbled streets and an interesting variety of shops and galleries. This is a panoramic landscape of fells, moors, ravines, valleys, mountains,rivers and waterfalls ( the highest waterfall in England is High Force approximately 10 miles away). Crisscrossed with bridleways, ancient tracks, Englands highest footpath, the Pennine Way and the C2C cycle route, the area is ideal for walking, cycling, pot holing and pony trekking.

Accommodation overview: Brook House is a substantial detached house, mid way between Windermere and Bowness, and offers a super, quality accommodation for the larger party. The house is a mere five minute walk to either Windermere or Bowness for a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants and a visit to The World of Beatrix Potter Exhibition and the famous Lake Windermere Steamers at Bowness are a must during any trip to the Lakes. Brook House is delightfully spacious and has been thoughtfully prepared for holiday letting by its new owners. The practical layout, with spacious kitchen/diner, is great for family meals and to catch up on the days events whilst the large tiered patio area is sure to be well used in the warmer months for meals al fresco. Light and airy bedrooms have been pleasantly prepared with co-ordinated linens, some of the upstairs rooms enjoying views to Claife Heights.
