The market town of Fakenham has an excellent market on a Thursday and a visit to the auction rooms on the same day, can be very educational! The sandy beaches of Wells, Hunstanton and Holme are a short distance by car and of course there is excellent bird watching at both Titchwell and Holme nature reserves.

The Priory was built in 1113 AD by William de Glanville and was home to the Cluniacs, the Black Monks who purchased a piece of the True Cross, the Bromholme Roode. The priory was mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Domesday Book, and was the subject of a prediction in Mother Shiptons Almanac. The village is well placed for ornithologists with the excellent reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham.
