Accommodation overview: Unique conversion of a former windmill in a wonderful waterside location. The attractive Broads village of Reedham lies on the banks of the River Yare. It is an excellent location for exploring the pretty villages and waterways of the Norfolk Broads. The sandy beaches of the East Coast are also nearby, with the cathedral city of Norwich and the bustling seaside resort of Great Yarmouth within easy driving distance. The village has one of the country's few chain ferries which take you from one side of the river to the other making the Suffolk Heritage Coast easily accessible. The village has shops and a variety of pubs, with further facilities available in the market town of Acle. This is the owner's much loved second home, and the accommodation is unique and full of character with the individual rustic nature of the building being preserved. The Mill has an unusual glass frontage on the first floor which offers wonderful views across the river and the marshes which are a haven for wildlife and birds. With a public footpath on the doorstep, the walk into the village is relaxing, or you could head east and pick up National Cycle Route 5 taking you into some of the area's delightful Broadland villages. The Broads are on your doorstep and Swallow Barn is a great place to unwind and enjoy the tranquillity of the beautiful countryside. Erpingham is a peaceful rural village set between the seaside resort of Cromer and the traditional market town of Aylsham with its good selection of shops and pubs. The National Trust property, Blickling Hall, is nearby and well worth a visit. It is perfect for a relaxing break but also a good base for exploring the many attractions of Norfolk including the North Norfolk Coast, the Norfolk Broads and the fine city of Norwich. A network of small lanes lead to some delightful discoveries for walkers and cyclists. There is a swimming pool available for hire within one mile and riding stables on the common. Strumpshaw is midway between Norwich and Great Yarmouth; it is situated on the highest area of land in the Norfolk Broads, but its main claim to fame is as the home of the RSPB reserve at Strumpshaw Fen. Here you may see marsh harriers gliding over the reed beds or hear the booming of a bittern. The village is also the home of Strumpshaw Hall Steam Museum which is well worth a visit. The beaches of the east coast are a short drive away or you can jump on a train from the neighbouring village of Lingwood and enjoy a day exploring the lovely city of Norwich. It is an ideal location for a relaxing break, with excellent walking, cycling and bird watching in the area. The coastal town of Sheringham is just six miles away and there are numerous places to visit close by. There is a shop and public house one and a half miles away and further wonderful shops, pubs and restaurants are to be found in Holt and Aylsham, which are five miles away. They have been converted to provide comfortable accommodation and are in a lovely peaceful position with views across farmland. The owners also have provision for a maximum of five touring caravans to be accommodated in the adjoining field - this area is screened from the cottages and in no way detracts from their peaceful situation.
