The attractive market town of Fakenham is four miles away, with its shops, bowling alley, cinema, restaurants and a Thursday market which should not be missed. Pensthorpe, home to the BBC Springwatch programme, is a great day out for all ages and is just 3 miles south east of Fakenham. National Cycle Routes 1 & 2 are just two of the routes that are in the locality and they will certainly test your staying power. A great location for a holiday at any time of the year with lots to see and do.

The village is half way between the market towns of Dereham and Swaffham, both of which offer excellent shopping, restaurants and good sports centres. It is a lovely area for a relaxing holiday with many delightful walks and cycle rides through the countryside. It is in a truly idyllic position overlooking its own beautiful grounds, including two lakes, where fishing is available at extra cost. Bawdeswell is an historic village, mentioned by Chaucer in the 14th century. It is situated in the heart of the county, central to the many attractions of Norfolk. The fine city of Norwich is fourteen miles away. The market town of Fakenham and Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, home to Spring Watch, is just ten miles away. The beautiful North Norfolk coastline at Wells and Blakeney and the famous Broads are also within easy reach, as are a number of National Trust properties including Blickling Hall. The nature reserves at Sparham Pools and Foxley Wood are both less than four miles away and the area is ideal for walkers and cyclists with Marriott's Way nearby. Bawdeswell has a village shop and small pub. Reepham is two miles away and has further shopping facilities, a weekly market, cafes and pub/restaurants.
