The elevated setting commands panoramic views out to sea and across the broad sweep of Woolacombe Bay - extending from the cliff top walks of the National Trust's Baggy Point, along a three mile expanse of clean, golden sands and to the historic headland village on Morte Point. A short stroll down through the grassy cliff slopes brings you onto acres of soft, warm sand that is recognised by many as North Devon's finest beach, officially acknowledged as being one of the eight cleanest bathing beaches in the UK. This is a safe and fascinating environment for children, sheltered by cliffs and with many rock pools. Conditions are also often ideal for surfing and windsurfing yet, with so little nearby development and somewhat obscure access, the sands are never overcrowded. Quite exceptionally stimulating walks can also be enjoyed directly from the grounds especially along the National Trust coastal path on Baggy Point where views extend across Croyde and Bideford Bay and to Lundy Island. Sunsets viewed from Putsborough are often truly remarkable.
