The property is arranged on one level and offers wheelchair friendly facilities with a slight slope to the front door. The well equipped and modern fitted kitchen with dining area enjoy large French windows that lead straight out on the private patio with garden furniture with the addition of a small lawn.

Off the main lounge area, there are three separate doorways that lead to the three bedrooms. One double bedroom (5ft) with en-suite wet room with WC and wheelchair friendly facilities. The second bedroom with two single beds and an additional double bedroom with vanity basin. An additional doorway from the main hallway leads into a separate bathroom with handheld shower on the bath and WC.

Scatho provides a communal lawned area to the rear and one parking space adjacent to the property with additional parking on site.

Accommodation overview: A picturesque, very traditional, comfortable detached house in an unspoilt little creekside hamlet on a tributary of the Fowey river. The original Mill House for the unrestored mill on the edge of the stream it is set into sloping ground and entered at first floor level reached from the parking area by an uneven granite and cobbled path that crosses the unused mill leat at one point.

The stable door set beneath a slate roof opens into a hallway with cloaks area to one side. This delightful house has low beamed ceilings, latch doors and interesting alternatives to vertical walls! The sitting room set to one side of the hall is comfortably furnished with the original fireplace and views from the window and window seat down over the front lawn to the stream.

On the other side of the hall a beamed kitchen / dining room has similar views, country pine furniture and pine units. There is one bedroom on this level with a 2ft 6inch single bed.

Rather steep stairs lead up to a landing with two further bedrooms, both very spacious, beamed and with views across the valley and down the creek, one with a double bed and hand basin, the other with two 3ft beds and one 2ft 6inch bed and a hand basin. A bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath completes the accommodation.

A grassy garden, with useful outside W.C., surrounds the house, edged by the river along one side and not a place for unsupervised toddlers or young children but a delight for older ones. There is off road parking for 3 vehicles with further parking on the private grass verge adjacent to the property. There is a little bridge crossing over Penpoll Creek where it is possible to launch canoes and small dinghies at high tide, 25 yards away. One pet only accepted.

Please note:
Bed linen is available at £14 per double & £7 per single per week to be paid on arrival. Towels are not available. Broadband available via BT Openzone Hotspot.

Accommodation overview: With lovely views down over the fields to the sea and just one mile inland from the picturesque coastal village of Downderry, this sensitively converted early 19th century detached stone barn stands in a peaceful rural setting to one side of the owners farmhouse.  Offering spacious family accommodation the property is just a 5 minute drive to the sand and shingle beach at Downderry with rock pools at low tide. 

A short level path leads to the front door, set beneath an open porch roof, which opens to a small lobby and half a dozen steps lead straight up to an open-plan living room with beams rising to the apex of the roof and a light and airy decor.  There is a comfortable seating area with two futon sofa beds for alternative sleeping arrangements; a dining suite is arranged in the middle of the room and a well equipped, modern fitted kitchen

French Windows from the lounge open to a raised decking area with timber railings, patio furniture and tranquil views over the surrounding countryside to the coast beyond.  In one corner of the living room, an inner hallway gives access to two pleasantly furnished bedrooms; a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin and a twin bedded room. A bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath completes the accommodation. 

The barn is fronted by a large sheltered courtyard ideal for children’s outdoor games and there is a hardcore parking area for 2 cars.  Visitors are welcome to pick their own vegetables from the owner’s one acre of vegetable garden nearby and may also mindfully explore the surrounding fields.  The owner also offers a taxi service to and from the local villages and bed and breakfast accommodation is available in the adjacent farmhouse. 

All the village amenities are just a 5 minute drive including a local shop/post office, cafe, restaurant and pub with carvery.  For walkers, the coastal footpath leads to Looe westwards and east to Whitsand Bay, and there are wooded walks inland through the Seaton Valley Countryside Park. Looe, 8 miles, offers pleasure boat and fishing trips, there is diving at the HMS Scylla artificial reef and there are several golf courses and gardens in the immediate area to explore including St Mellion, Whitsand Bay and LanhydrockPlymouth is half an hour by car and The Eden Project is a 40 minute drive.

Despite its rural location, Woodentops is conveniently situated for visiting the wonderful beaches and attractions that the whole county has to offer and is furnished to a high standard with gas central heating and provides warm and comfortable year round accommodation. 

Entered from the concrete parking area where there is space for two cars a gated path leads to the front door with a step up into the modern well fitted kitchen with quarry tile floor and skylight window. From the kitchen an inner hall gives access to two comfortable and attractive bedrooms a double with 5ft bed and one with 3ft metal bunk beds. Opposite the bedrooms is a well finished shower room W.C with hand basin.

The light and airy living room with views over the surrounding countryside has comfortable lounge seating arranged to one side and a solid wood dining table and chairs. A sliding patio door leads out to the railed decking area with a step down to the small enclosed lawn with panoramic countryside views to Falmouth on the horizon and a gravelled side path to the entrance.

The village of Lanner a 5 minute drive has a local shop, post office, pub and bakery and Falmouth with a wider selection of amenities and a choice of beaches is just 7 miles. The beaches at Porthtowan and Portreath on the north coast are both 6 miles away, and the famous resorts of Newquay and St Ives are just a 30 minute drive respectively. 

The cathedral city of Truro and the glorious Roseland Peninsula can be reached in 20 minutes by car. There are numerous gardens within easy reach and a watersports centre at Stithians Lake 4 miles away.  There is a golf course 5 miles away, riding stables close by and the Cornish Way Coast to Coast Cycle Trail is nearby with bicycle hire available from Bissoe Tramways.

Approached by a sloping driveway where there is parking for two cars, the bungalow is fronted by a colourful lawned garden with a small sunny patio area.

A short path leads to the entrance at the rear and a useful lobby area with a shower room W.C. and hand basin. A couple of steps lead up to an inner hallway and to one side there is a bright fully-fitted kitchen / breakfast room with a pine table and chairs and windows overlooking the mature rear garden. A very pleasant beamed living room has dining table and chairs arranged at one end of the room and comfortable seating next to the large picture window to fully appreciate the views of the sea and coastline and a French door which opens onto the front patio.

Leading off the hallway there are a bathroom with vanity basin, an adjacent cloakroom W.C. and three good sized, light and airy bedrooms. There is a twin bedded room and a master double bedroom at the front of the property with fine views to St Ives Bay from very large windows, the latter with a vanity unit, and a further twin bedroom with wash basin looks out over the well maintained rear garden. A garage houses the freezer and tumble dryer and there is also space available for the storage of beachgear. At the rear of the bungalow, a gently sloping path leads up to a raised terrace with patio furniture and a beautiful garden with a large lawn, apple tree and flower borders.

There are a few local shops, a pub and a supermarket within a ten minute walk and the town of St Ives has a wide variety of craft shops, galleries, restaurants, pubs and cafes. There are also boat trips from the harbour, the Tate Gallery situated on Porthmeor beach, a leisure centre with swimming pool and delightful coastal walks. An 18-hole golf course is available within the magnificent estate of Tregenna Castle nearby.
