A most unique and unusual home, The Round House sits next to Cairn Nature Reserve enjoying extensive views over the town and out towards the Bristol Channel. Approached by a sweeping drive and surrounded by its own beautifully landscaped and private gardens it has been a frequent winner of "Ilfracombe in Bloom" Built in 1910 by a local builder who had been set the challenge of constructing a completely round home, all rooms are spacious and primarily regular in shape, boasting a wealth of period features. Best of all, an unusual rotunda room at the very top of the building offers impressive 360 degree views. A stunning turreted entrance porch and double doors open into the hallway with parquet flooring, feature ceiling and gothic style doors. An attractive twin bedroom and shower room is also on the ground floor. From the entrance hallway a solid wood staircase rises up to the mezzanine floor and a spacious double bedroom with separate dressing room and ensuite bathroom. This attractive galleried landing area, with far reaching views, is a lovely spot for relaxing in the comfy chairs to read a book or the morning papers, and a second TV is a useful bonus for families. A real treat is the large lawn to the side of the cottage, ideal for children to run and play, and the pretty front patio is just perfect for leisurely al fresco meals, barbecues or just relaxing at any time of day.
