Accommodation overview: Buddleia is a fabulous, well-furnished, modern holiday property of very generous size, superbly suited to a large family for summer holidays and family gatherings year-round. The owners have renovated it to a high standard to create a wonderful, detached home which is situated in the village of West Charleton, between the riverside town of Kingsbridge and the wide expanse of beach at Slapton Sands, on the South Devon Coast. The house itself has its own private gated driveway and a large, enclosed, level, lawned garden - very secluded and south facing. Skirting the rear of the property is a large decked area with glass balustrade, table (seats 12) and steps down to the lawn. To the front is a small pebble Mediterranean-style patio area. This is a very family-friendly holiday home; the large kitchen/dining room forms the main hub of the house and - with its large breakfast bar and bar stools - creates a good social area for cooking, chatting and dining. The separate living room features a 42in plasma TV and wood-burning stove - ideal for cosy nights in during autumn and winter; in summer the large French doors can open up onto the decking. For children, there is an outdoor play area with a slide and swings. West Charleton lies on the A379 - one of the many villages en route from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth. Within 20-30 minutes’ drive are many popular and well-loved locations in South Devon: the yachting haven of Salcombe, the rugged cliffs and tiny coves at Hope Cove and Thurlestone, Bantham Beach (popular with surfers), the busy market town of Kingsbridge, Totnes and Modbury, the famous beaches of Slapton Sands, working fishing village of Beesands, East Prawle - surrounded by NT coastline and close to the Start Point Lighthouse, the little sandy bays at East Portlemouth and the historic maritime town of Dartmouth. Accommodation overview: Holmfield is a lovely comfortable country house located in the pretty village of West Charleton, close to Kingsbridge. Ideally suited to families to enjoy the fantastic South Hams countryside and the many beaches along this stretch of coastline. This holiday property is a well-loved family home, very spacious and with an elegant interior decor. An adjoined house, it has parking for three cars and a lovely south-facing rear garden. The gardens are mainly laid to lawn separated by Gothic-style arches with an enclosed patio with water feature, a large level lawn and the added bonus of its own private, outdoor, 32ft long solar heated swimming pool in the garden. The living accommodation within the house is spacious, light and airy, and boasts two separate living rooms and two conservatories, one of which leads from the living room and the other leads from the kitchen. Both conservatories open out on to patio areas where there is ample seating for al fresco dining and drinks. This really is a lovely holiday property for a large family to enjoy.
The village of West Charleton has a pub, less than a minute’s walk, which serves food. Kingsbridge, only 3 miles away has a wealth of restaurants and pubs as well as supermarkets, banks and a hospital. There are many stunning beaches along this area’s stretch of coast, including Thurleston, Hope Cove, Lannacombe, Mill Bay (East Portlemouth), Mattiscombe (near Start Lighthouse), historic Slapton Sands and the lovely Blackpool Sands, all within 10 miles. A wealth of NT properties are within easy reach as well as Pennywell Farm, otters and butterflies at Buckfastleigh, Dartmoor Zoological Park, Plymouth’s National Aquarium, Dartington Glass, river boat excursions, Paignton Zoo. For the more active there is horse riding, Dartmouth’s Woodland Adventure Park and an excellent sailing course at South Sands, Salcombe. Shop 2 miles, pub 1/2 mile. Large beamed living room.
