Accommodation overview: With far reaching views of Haytor on Dartmoor and standing detached, this well-appointed European design house exhibits a high degree of individuality. Visitors can experience stunning evening sunsets from a holiday property that boasts an interior with high vaulted ceilings, chestnut beams, as well as benefiting from modern day comforts such as underfloor heating throughout and a central music system piping music into all rooms. Lying between Dartmoor and the sea, Squireswood is situated in the Teignbridge area, edging the South Hams region amongst some of Devon’s most fertile land and there is also access to many of the West’s most popular coastal resorts. The so-called English Riviera - comprising the Torbay region, encompasses the popular resorts of Torquay, Paignton and picturesque Brixham, whilst the thriving estuary town of Teignmouth, with its harbour lies further alongside Dawlish - a smaller and less commercialised resort where Charles Dickens’ character Nicholas Nickleby was born. To the west of the property lies the vast expanse of the Dartmoor National Park, heather clad and roamed by sheep and wild ponies. At its centre, the tumbling streams and high tors characterise Dartmoor Forest, which has been owned by the Duchy of Cornwall since 1307. With the coast in one direction and the moors in the other, a stay at Squireswood has something to cater for all tastes, with lots of family attractions also to be found in the area. Shop ½ mile. Accommodation overview: A true gem of the idyllic ‘picture postcard’ thatched cottage. Pitt House is an impressive early 15th-century detached cottage with thick cob walls and is located in the peaceful old part of Kingskerswell village, which still maintains loads of its old rustic charm. It is approached through double wooden gates, and has ample parking for 5 plus cars. It is steeped in history with original oak panelling, heavily beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplaces and the original bread oven. The large family size living room opens directly onto the gardens through two sets of French doors, whilst the snug Prince William room offers a space for quieter times. The Oliver Cromwell dining-room oozes nostalgia in its character and décor and is a wonderful room for a special dinner party. The large country kitchen still retains much charm with a stable door leading to the enclosed courtyard and garden. The property sits within a large English country garden; there is even a little bridge set over the enchanting brook, which runs through the grounds. To the north lies the estuary town of Teignmouth with its thriving harbour where its fishing boats are still hauled up on the pebbled beach. There is a ferry that operates between Teignmouth and the lovely coastal village of Shaldon. Pitt House is well situated for easy access to the English Riviera, the medieval town of Totnes and South Hams area and Dartmoor. Shops and pub 1 mile.
