Accommodation overview: Wadadli Lodge is something quite unusual. A contemporary, detached, Swedish-style house built of local stone and oak, offering beautiful interior design. The property stands in its own garden, with its own outdoor heated swimming pool and large play field with lake beyond. From the living room, balcony and decked garden, the pool can be viewed so it is easy to keep an eye on the youngsters enjoying themselves splashing around and having fun. The living area boasts high vaulted ceilings with oak flooring, with large glass windows at one end opening onto a large glass balcony overlooking the swimming-pool, play field and lake beyond. Both double bedrooms are en-suite and have French doors which open onto the decked garden. The holiday property is located just outside of Ivybridge in close proximity to the A38, in countryside ideal for horse riding; many of the fields surrounding have horses and stabling. Ivybridge is located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park and a short drive leads up onto the open moorland. In the other direction heading towards the coast there are many beaches, all approximately half an hour’s drive away, including Mothecombe, Bantham, Bigbury and Wembury. Plymouth city centre is 7 miles away with its historical Barbican and Hoe, as well as theatres, cinemas, bowling, pubs, restaurants, concert hall, ice skating, aquarium, ski slope and night clubs. With its fishing lake stocked with carp tench and bream and acres of farmland to which visitors enjoy access Venn Farm provides a wonderfully relaxing holiday retreat yet is only two miles from good roads that make it easy to explore further afield. Superb sandy beaches at Mothecombe and Bigbury-on-Sea and a variety of water sports at the picturesque twin villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are all within about half an hour's drive. The delightful little Georgian town of Modbury with its specialist and antique shops and splendid inns is under 5 miles whilst nearby is Ivybridge known as the southern gateway to Dartmoor offers excellent sports facilities an indoor pool and a renowned garden centre. Dartmoor National Park lies within easy reach wild ponies the Dartmoor Wildlife Park Widecombe in the Moor and Buckfastleigh Abbey are just some of its attractions. National Trust properties at Saltram House a magnificent mid-18th century mansion and Coleton Fishacre are a short drive as is Burgh Island of Agatha Christie fame. Plymouth and the Eden Project are further afield but afford excellent day trips. Closer to home good walking riding and golf can be enjoyed locally and there are two village pubs within ¼ mile and shops in Wrangaton 2 miles. Accommodation overview: This Devon longhouse dates back to 1066 and is steeped in history with many original features such as a well, recesses in the walls and feature fireplaces. Renovated, it is set on the edge of Dartmoor in a tiny hamlet and is surrounded by rolling fields where ponies and cattle graze. Many walks can be enjoyed on the moors a mile away and bird-watchers will take delight in the many species of bird to be found here. A large garden and outdoor swimming pool (heated May-Sept) add extra appeal to this historic house. In close proximity to the A38, in countryside ideal for horse riding, Piles Peek is a great holiday base for exploring the attractions of Devon. Ivybridge is just 3 miles away and offers shops, pubs and leisure centre. Golf (at Wrangaton, 4 miles) and cycling can also be enjoyed locally, with several places of interest all within a short drive of Ivybridge itself. Flete (dating from the Elizabethan era) and the NT property Saltram House (a Georgian mansion) are fine examples of past architecture and for those more interested in the wonders of nature, Kitley Caves at Yealampton, and the Dartmoor Wildlife Park provide a good day out.. Wembury Bay (8 miles) is a marine conservation area supporting a diverse array of plants, birds and marine animals, and has wonderful coastal walks and views across the mouth of the Plymouth Sound. Not far from Wembury are the attractive villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo (flanked by NT woodland) and from the mouth of the Yealm estuary, fishing trips and motor boats are available for hire, with a regatta held in August. Plymouth with its longstanding naval connections is within easy reach, and here the Barbican, the National Marine Aquarium and Plymouth Hoe await discovery. Close to many sandy beaches along the South Hams area, lazy days by the sea can be whiled away. The Eden Project with its diversity of plant habitats is approximately one hour’s drive.
