Accommodation overview: This spacious detached farmhouse has been renovated to a high standard to offer excellent family accommodation. Set in an idyllic holiday location, it stands amidst its own substantial gardens bordered by the Leat stream – which runs off the River Exe. Great for country walks, the property borders the Exe Way walk and is perfectly surrounded by wild flower meadows. Surrounded by birds, two macaws (named Bick and Leigh) can be seen being fed each day along with ducks, doves and other types of birds. It is possible to observe herons, otters, kingfishers, ducks and free range hens, all of which are regular visitors to the land. Enjoying its own secluded gardens with children’s slide and climbing frame, there are also patio areas to the front and rear with furniture to take full advantage of the wonderful surroundings, perfect for al fresco dining. Bickleigh itself has nearby visitor attractions – Devon Model Railway, and Bickleigh Mill, where tours can be made of the mill and cream teas can be enjoyed, as well as local shopping in the craft shop at Bickleigh Mill. Within short walking distance of the farmhouse, two fabulous inns can be found situated on the banks of the River Exe, offering a good selection of food, ale...and more cream teas! Many National Trust properties are within easy reach including Killerton, Powderham Castle, Knightshayes Court and Castle Drogo. Tiverton, which has famous Castle and the Grand Western Canal, where a peaceful walk can be enjoyed, is 4 miles. The city of Exeter, 10 miles, with beautiful St Peter’s Cathedral dating back to the 1360s, has something for everyone – good shopping, theatres, cinemas, leisure activities, pubs and restaurants, whilst Wellington lies 18 miles distant.
