Adjacent to the owner’s home, around the same pretty courtyard garden with pond and fountain, they are attractively furnished in ‘New England’ style. The South Hams boasts the mildest climate in Britain. Paignton, 2 miles, has a small harbour, zoo and steam railway. Torquay, 4 miles, has sailing, tennis and sports centre and combines the exotic and the classically English; coloured lights festoon the harbour by night. It has many good sandy beaches, giving it an almost Mediterranean feel. Inland is medieval town of Totnes with castle and 16th-century buildings. From the quayside are boat trips down the beautiful River Dart to Dartmouth; the S. Devon Railway runs steam trains to Buckfastleigh. Within easy reach is the spectacular Dartmoor National Park. Shop/PO 700 yards, restaurant/pub1 mile (‘a la carte’ one 400 yards), supermarkets a short drive. Better access for disabled. Adjoins Rose Cottage.
